Physical Education
Baring School has very active sports and Physical Education participation. We have rejoined the Lewisham School Games Partnership this year, taking part in inter-school sport. We love our sport!
In March 2013 we were awarded the ‘Lewisham Sporting Primary School of the Year’ trophy. Also at the same ceremony our girls’ football team were runners-up in the category ‘School Sports Team of the Year’. Our girls’ football team are particularly successful, representing Lewisham at the London School Games for three consecutive years – from 2011 to 2013. We regularly take part in team competitions in a variety of sports.
We have weekly professional sports coaches teaching class lessons in a rolling programme; in hockey, tennis, football, swimming and cricket. Staff are present during the coached lessons and use this as a professional development opportunity. We also have a wide range of before and after school clubs, for example, boys’ football, girls’ football, hockey, sports club and judo.
Our Early Years children have a large area of garden in which to improve their physical development which includes climbing and running space. They use the main school large playground area daily for developing skills using wheeled toys such as scooters, trikes and balance bikes.
