Music

We believe that music is a form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think
and act. It brings together intellect and feeling, enabling personal expression, reflection
and emotional development. We aim to provide children with a wide variety of musical
experiences to encourage children to develop and extend their own creative musical ideas
and to encourage an appreciation of music by listening and responding to a variety of music.
We encourage children to perform musical pieces and compositions to a variety of audiences.

The National Curriculum for Music

You can see the National Curriculum strands for music by year groups in this document here and you can view the National Curriculum programme of study here.

We use a scheme of work called Charanga which takes children through the process of playing and creating music.
