Languages

At Baring the language taught is French.  There is also a 'Language of the Month', see the web page here.

French is taught in Key Stage 2 through weekly timetabled sessions which provide children with the opportunity to read, write and speak the language.  Within the Early Years and Key Stage 1 the language is taught discreetly through songs, games and ad-hoc activities such as answering the register in a different language.

We also celebrate our love of learning French with a French day during which the children learn a French song to perform in assembly, try different French foods and look at the work of a French artist, creating their own piece of art.
